Iceriver is a well-known brand that has launched several top-notch Kaspa miners. KS3 is one of the reliable Kaspa mining machines released by Iceriver recently in August 2023. Iceriver KS3 has an outstanding hash rate of 8000 Gh/s, letting miners compete against the mining difficulty and mine new Kaspa coins successfully.
Moreover, Iceriver KS3 gives an excellent energy efficiency of 0.4j/Gh at a reduced power consumption of 3200W. So, attention, Kaspa mining enthusiasts. If you’re looking for a reliable Kaspa mining machine and are yet to finalize a Kaspa miner, Iceriver KS3 can be your ideal choice.
Here in this setup blog guide, we will demonstrate all about Iceriver KS3, right from what to expect in the shipment package, power infrastructure requirements, and Kaspa mining profitability to the detailed setting up process with step-by-step instructions.

Unboxing the Iceriver KS3
You will receive your Iceriver KS3 perfectly padded with thick foams in a carton box from Crypto Miner Bros.
Since the machine is too heavy, it is safely padded with thick foam pieces on top and bottom to prevent damage during shipping.
Once you remove the foam pieces, you will find your KS3, which is pretty heavy. Take it out carefully and place it in a well-ventilated area as the machine exhausts a lot of heat.
The Iceriver KS3 comes in two different looks. One is similar to the typical ASIC miners.
The other comes with a protective metal cover like this.
Step-by-step Instructions for Setting Up the Iceriver KS3
1. Preparing Your Machine
First and foremost, you will need a special power infrastructure to run your KS3, as the regular Northern American power setup will not work. Since ASIC miners demand high power, you need your power setup first.
Since the power consumption of KS3 is around 3200W, you will need a specialized 30A 240V circuit to get it done from a certified electrician.
Next, you will need to buy C-19 to C-20 cables to power your Iceriver KS3 and a dedicated PDU, as they don’t come with the machine. These cables are 12 gauge thick and can withstand the heat released by the ASIC.
Iceriver KS3 is noisy because of its fan sound of around 71 decibels. Thus, placing it in an aerated open space is highly recommended.
Once you place it in your preferred environment, it’s time to connect to the internet. Since ASICs don’t support Wifi, you will need a wired internet connection. Connect the Iceriver KS3 to the router with a network cable.
Now, switch on the miner.
2. Installing the Kaspa Wallet
There are many Kaspa wallets out there. But it is highly advisable to get a KDX wallet.
KDX is a full node software that you can run on Windows, macOC and Linux.
You can install that and get your receiving address from the wallet.
Another recommended alternative to the KDX wallet is Tangem.
3. Retrieving the IP Address
The next step is to retrieve the IP address of your Iceriver KS3.
To get the IP address of your Iceriver KS3, you can choose any of the below steps:
You can use the free program software called Advance IP Scanner to get your miner’s IP address.
You can log in to your home router and get the IP address.
4. Accessing the KS3 via the Web Browser
As you enter the IP address in the browser, a window will appear asking for a username and password.
Sign in to the browser by giving “admin” as username and “12345678” as password. That is the default username and password for Iceriver models. However, in other models from different companies, the credentials may vary. You can reach us at info@www.cryptominerbros.com for assistance.
Once you login, you can access the dashboard of Iceriver KS3.
5. Checking for the Firmware Upgrade
Next step is to check for the firmware upgrade for your Iceriver KS3.
If there is a recent firmware, you can select that one and click the update button.
6. Changing the Mining Settings
Click on the Mining Settings tab on the left-hand side of the KS3’s dashboard. You will see the below page to configure the mining pool address, wallet address, and password.
Now, if you’re a new miner unsure of which mining pool to mine on, you can visit Miningpoolstats to pick the most suitable Kaspa mining pool. Pick the pool that has a low hash rate to maintain the decentralization.
Let’s take Kaspa.pool.org for demonstration purposes. Go to their official website. You will find the below page where you can update your location. Now, copy the IP address of the mining pool. You can also use the other two mining pool addresses as pool 2 and pool 3 if necessary.
Paste the pool addresses on the Iceriver’s dashboard like below.
Now, the next step is to enter the wallet address. It can be either KDX or Tangem. Just copy and paste the wallet address under Wallet/Worker. You have to enter in the format: Wallet address. worker name. The worker’s name can be anything of your choice.
Next, give password of your choic and hit save.
7. Start Mining Kaspa
You can check the Iceriver KS3’s dashboard for mining status. KS3 will most probably mine at its maximum hash rate.
If the ASIC is too loud, you can check the fan speed and temperature of the Iceriver KS3 in the Web GUI. The temperature should be under 50 degrees Celcius.
Set the fan speed to 50 if you find your Iceriver too noisy.
Iceriver KS3 Profitability
The mining profitability of any ASIC miner is not straightforward. It relies on numerous factors like Kaspa price, the hash rate of your ASIC, network difficulty, electricity charges in your area, mining trends, market demands, etc. Thus, miners should watch the market closely before investing in any mining hardware, including Iceriver KS3.
Just like any other cryptocurrency, Kaspa is also highly volatile. Since Kaspa’s price directly impacts Kaspa mining profitability, miners should track Kaspa’s price history and past performances periodically to predict the possible future price of Kaspa.
Here is the price history of Kaspa for the last year for your quick reference.
Kaspa Mining Difficulties
Kaspa follows the Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm, KHeavyhash. The energy-intensive algorithm regulates the mining difficulty of the Kaspa mining network, ensuring a decentralized network.
The algorithm adjusts the mining difficulty in real-time depending on the number of miners in the network—the more the network participants, the more the mining difficulty. Thus, a popular cryptocurrency will attract more miners, which, in turn, will increase the mining difficulty while reducing the mining profitability.
Hence, considering the popularity of Kaspa is also mandatory as it will impact your profitability. Though mining difficulty seems negative, it is a necessary evil. For instance, mining difficulty is crucial as it prevents hackers and cyber attackers from compromising the network. It maintains a decentralized mining network, regulating new block generation periodically.
