RandomX

The RandomX algorithm was developed for Monero by the developers Tevator, hyc, Vielmetti, and Antanst y Schernykh. The algorithm was successfully activated on the Monero network on November 30, 2019.

RandomX is a proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm designed to replace the Monero (XMR) algorithm and be resistant to specialized mining hardware, like ASICs. RandomX is the new ASIC-resistant mining algorithm for Monero that encourages CPU mining while facilitating security for its protocol and blockchain.

RandomX is designed to create a completely random “work zone” or scratchpad with a high memory consumption, and it uses advanced virtualization techniques for its operation. That makes RandomX highly resistant to ASICs.
